This is an idea for a tasty side dish for your holiday meal, or bake it with porridge for breakfast or have it as a light dessert. You can use whatever spices you like – I went traditional in the video, though I would have loved to add some cardamom for a unique flavor.
Spiced Applesauce
Servings: 2 cups
Ingredients
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp nutmeg
- 0.25 tsp allspice
- 0.25 tsp ground cardamom, optional
- 2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup, optional
Instructions
- Heat a pot to medium-high, then add the spices, stirring or shaking frequently to make sure they don't burn.
- Once the spices are toasted, stir in the applesauce and maple syrup. Serve warm, or put back in the jar to keep in the fridge.
