maple glazed nuts
Servings: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1/2 cup cashews
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries, optional
Instructions
- Heat a pan on medium-high, then add the nuts. Stir frequently to make sure they don’t burn.
- Once they’ve gotten a slight brown to them, add the spices and vinegar and stir to coat. Keep stirring continuously until the vinegar is mostly evaporated, then add the maple syrup and stir to coat.
- Take them off the heat promptly after that, and keep stirring, because the sugars will burn quickly. The pan will stay hot, so they’ll continue to glaze even off the burner. You’re aiming to get them somewhat dry, but not burn. It’s a fine line, so you might have to play with it a few times to get your technique perfectly honed.
